Teriyaki Chicken
This recipe was collated from web research, and trial and error updates, for a Japanese meal that we had to prepare and cook for a class at school. It has been a regular on the dining table ever since.
Teriyaki Chicken
A marinated teriyaki chicken dish
Ingredients
- 150 mls soy sauce (175 grams)
- 3 tablespoons honey (80 grams)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (25 grams)
- 6 cloves garlic (20 grams)
- 2 tablespoons grated ginger (40 grams)
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2½ kilograms chicken drumsticks
Instructions
- Combine soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, ginger and pepper into a bowl or measuring cup – do this all in one go on the scales.150 mls soy sauce, 3 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 6 cloves garlic, 2 tablespoons grated ginger, ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- Lay chicken drumsticks in a baking dish in one layer.2½ kilograms chicken drumsticks
- Pour marinade over the chicken drumsticks and turn to ensure they are coated. Cover and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Remove from refrigerator. Preheat oven to 180°C or 160°C fan forced.
- Turn chicken drumsticks over again in the dish. Cover with aluminium foil then place in the preheated oven. After 35-40 minutes, turn the drumsticks over again, re-cover and cook for another 20 minutes. Remove foil and return to the oven for 20 -30 minutes. Test with a toothpick – juices run clear when cooked.
