Welcome to Mima's Recipes

Mima’s Recipes were curated over years of sitting at my mother’s kitchen table and meticulously recording everything she did, so that someday I would be able to recreate her delicious food.

Mima means grandmother, and is lovingly used by a small group of Egyptian Armenians who were neighbours. As a proud Mima myself now, my mission is to share these treasures, so that they continue to be prepared and enjoyed, always with love.

Mima's Famous Vanilla Cake

Mima (my mum) & Me

Growing up, home cooked food shared with family and friends was the centre of everything. The kitchen was literally the central room of our home.

As a young child, it was obvious I had my mother's attention to detail. While she cooked, I recorded every step she took – I think she was quite amused (and I hope somewhat proud) that I did this so seriously and meticulously… if she added an extra pinch of salt, I made sure I had that noted!

It is this focus that has brought our family recipe archives, including my own recipes, to life.

In happiness and good health!
